Today I finished meeting with you each of you individually about your drafts. When you have finished making corrections to your second draft you can begin planning how you will lay out your story. Think about and implement the successful elements of a children’s story. Here is a link to some online children’sstories if you need some inspiration.

MAKE SURE YOU DRAFT HOW YOU WILL LAYOUT THE IMAGES AND TEXT IN YOUR BOOK BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

If you have not begun your book by today you will need to work on it over the weekend. Make sure you bring in any supplies you will need to work on your book on Monday.

En Clase:

Today we continued to work on our cuentos infantiles(children’s stories).  I have been meeting with students one-on-one throughout the period to talk about their stories and give feedback.

** YOU NEED TO MEET WITH ME BEFORE YOU START WRITING IN YOUR BOOKS.**

If you turned in your late and I have not had a chance to talk with you, you will need to come in and see me during SIG or office hours today. 

Tarea: 

Make any necessary corrections or changes to your story and bring supplies to start working on your books.  If you bring supplies and plan on leaving them here make sure you properly mark them and contain them.

Today, I gave you a list of important dates until the end of the semester. Below is the list or follow this link to download it. Here is the rubric for the project we are doing.Also, we had time to correct our drafts in class.

Tarea:

Corrige tu borrador esta noche para que puedas trabajar en tus libros mañana.También, trae las materiales necesarias para hacer tu libro.Trae dinero para comprar tu libro: $1.75 or $2.25.


Correct your drafts tonight so that you can work on your books in class tomorrow.Also, Bring any material necessary to make your book.(art supplies etc…)Bring money to buy your book: $1.75 or $2.25.



Upcoming Project Dates

Tuesday 27th: Make corrections to your draft, organize pages to increase “flow” of your story, make additions if necessary.Just because I made my corrections does not mean it is perfect.One-on-one meetings with Profe Dave.

Wednesday 28th: Begin working on your final product.Think about page layout, text, and illustrations.Bring any supplies you will need to decorate your book: construction paper, pictures, art supplies, etc… One-on-one meetings with Profe Dave.

Wednesday 5th: Final books due.Your book needs to be completed and in a final presentable format by the end of the day.

Wednesday 5th:Sound recording and reading practice.We will practice reading our stories along with other children’s stories in Spanish.

Monday 10th:Sound recording of story due on DP.You will need to have a digital recording of you reading your story and attach this to your DP.

Monday 10th:Exhibition Prep.We will go over logistics and any final touches to our Stories.Practice reading stories one more time.

Tuesday 11th:Exhibition Day 1: Periods 5 and 6 will meet at Needham Elementary at 3:45pm sharp.Students must be prepared to read at 4pm.Be prepared to read other stories in Spanish as well.Exhibition will last until 5pm.

Wednesday 12th:Exhibition Day 2: Periods 2 and 3 will meet at Park Elementary at 3:45pm sharp. Students must be prepared to read at 4pm.Be prepared to read other stories in Spanish as well.Exhibition will last until 5pm.

Thursday 13th:Final Exam.This will be a comprehensive assessment of the topics we have covered throughout the semester.We will review for this assessment in class this week.

Friday 14th:DP Updated.BY THE BEGINNING OF CLASS!You will need to have your DP updated with images of your story and the sound recording of you reading your story.You will also need to write a project reflection on your DP.This is a brief explanation of what the project is and you will respond to a question I give you about your work on the project.

Today we continued working on our cuentos infantiles - children's stories.  We had the entire period to work on our drafts that are due no later than Friday morning at 8:15am.  Make sure you are using your time wisely.  We only have one more day of class this week to complete our drafts in class.  

Make sure you bring any research you will need to continue working in class tomorrow.  If the Internet is not reliable you will need to prepare your research tonight so that you will have something to work on in class.

Today I gave you a tutorial on how to set up your PC to type in Spanish, use accent marks, and punctuation.

I also revisited the rubric for your page drafts due no later than Friday, November 16 at 8:15 am.  Reference this rubric so that you know what I am expecting for Friday. 

I also passed out a vocabulary list for you to reference for when you are talking about food or traditions.

Today I passed back many papers including your quizzes from last week and your city/town investigation sheets.  We also started signing up for the size and styles of books that you will want to use for the final project. 

Later we worked on our Mi vida en Durango libritos.  You should be done with pages 1-5 by tomorrow and begin your rough draft for your final project.  Here is the outline for your rough draft for the pages in your final books.  You will need to turn in the rough draft no later than Friday morning at 8:15am. 
 
For class tomorrow please bring your computers and be prepared with any research you will need to begin writing your stories in case of any internet troubles.

Today we played Pizaritas Blancas to review for the quiz tomorrow over IR + A and los pasatiempos y los deportes vocab.
We spent the rest of the day finishing chapter 1 of Pobre Anna.  Those of you who finished the chapter were able to start on the next pages in the Mi vida en Durango libritos.  Page 2 you are to write at least three sentences on your family and page 3 you are to write at least 3 sentences on Durango.  Here is a guide I passed out to help you with forming your sentences.

En Clase:

Today we played competitive Pictionary to review some of our recent vocabulary.

Later, I introduced the verb gustar-to be pleasing. We learned how to use this construction to say that you like things. Click here to see notes on gustar and click here to see a PowerPoint presentation on how to use the verb.

We also had homework to practice gustar and our hobbies vocab.

En Clase:
Today we did a speaking activity to practice the concept IR + A. 
Later we read in the story, Pobre Anna.   If you finished the comprehension questions for Chapter 1 you were able to start on your Libritos, Mi vida en Durango.  The next section we wrote about in the libritos was about family. 
Tarea:
For homework we have a worksheet to practice IR + A.
Also, make sure you complete your town/city research sheet for tomorrow, Wednesday.

Today I passed back the quiz from last Friday over Los pasatiempos y los deportes and conjugations.   If you were absent last Friday please come in to take it on Wednesday after school. 

Today we learned about the construction, IR + A, which is a way of expressing a future action or a destination.  I have notes that explain how to use this construction here.  We also had a worksheet to practice this forhomework. 

We will have an assessment on Friday to practice Ir + A. 

 
I will not hold office hours tomorrow but instead I will be available on Wednesday after school.

En Clase:

Today we I explained more about your project research that is due onWednesday next week.  You will be researching a specific town or city within your country.  I also showed you a fun website, ifitweremyhome.com, that gives you perspective on your country by comparing it to the United States.

Later we reviewed and then took the evaluación: los pasatiempos and conjugation of –AR verbs. 

After the quiz we continued reading  Pobre Anna, chapter 1.
